The Post-Baccalaureate Program in Elementary Education is for students who have earned a baccalaureate degree and are interested in pursuing a career in elementary education (grades K-8). Students have the opportunity to choose from several major and minor subject areas and, with successful completion of program and state requirements, this program leads to endorsement through the Michigan Department of Education.
What You Will Learn
You will create an individualized program of study with your advisor, depending on undergraduate courses that you have taken previously and your chosen endorsement area. You will study the subject material of your endorsement area, learn theories and methods for teaching, and complete a student teaching experience.
Opportunities
Successful completion of courses, within the context of other program and state requirements, will qualify you to be eligible for endorsement in your chosen subject area in the State of Michigan. To view the programs offered for endorsement, please see this Handbook with Initial Teacher Preparation Programs General Advising Information [PDF].
