There is a new set of faces on the first floor of the Porter building this fall. Who are they? They are students and teachers in the Washtenaw Intermediate School District's (WISD) Ypsilanti Transition Services program.
Their classroom is located in 129 Porter and their offices are located in 130 Porter. Students in the program receive some instruction here in Porter and are also active in community settings doing life skills and vocational education. In recent years, this vital program for mildly and moderately disabled young adults has operated in the Hoyt Building.
Their move to Porter is positive for both the Transition Services Program and the College of Education. Transition Services staff and students have an expanded and improved area for their program and the College of Education has interactions and field experiences with the students and staff.
