New administrative rules affecting educator certification
Submitted by Amy Eastman | Published January 23, 2012
Michigan passed a number of school and tenure reform bills in the summer of 2011. In response, the Michigan Department of Education is developing new administrative rules to conform to these new laws. The rules will affect all levels of educator certification, including provisional renewals and advancing to the professional certificate.
Please note the state mandated reading diagnostic class will still be required to advance from the provisional certificate to the professional certificate: RDNG 503 for elementary teachers and RDNG 504 for secondary teachers.
