The University Advising & Career Development Center (UACDC) is a team of professionals who advise, counsel and coach individuals with their learning and career development. Recognizing every individual’s unique potential, we empower students to gain the knowledge, understanding and experience necessary to make informed decisions now and in the future. As public servants, we create opportunities for students to engage their unique humanness in service to their professions, to their communities, and to our diverse, changing world by connecting our students with local and global leaders and employer partners.

Services
The following are are some of the services that we offer:
Career coaches and corporate relations managers assist current students and alumni in:
- Identifying their strengths, preferences and values as they relate to work and employment through assessments and one-on-one sessions
- Exploring careers and majors associated with their unique profiles
- Connecting with potential internship sources and employers through career fairs and use of EMU’s career management portal, Handshake
- Reviewing and revising resumes, and cover letters and in preparing for professional interviews
Academic advisors assist students in:
- Developing and refining their academic goals and career objectives
- Understanding program progression and relevant EMU academic requirements, policies and procedures
Student employment services team assists students, EMU faculty and staff in:
- Securing federal employment forms such as I-9’s
- Coordinating payroll functions for student employees
- Job location and development for work-study and regular students
Corporate relations managers additionally assist employers in:
- Identifying EMU programs that produce students and graduates with the skills employers seek for potential interns and employees
- Connecting with faculty and staff
- Connecting with Handshake for posting jobs/internships, scheduling on-campus recruitment opportunities, and registering for career fairs
