  • Exhibit: African Americans in Civil War Medicine

Binding Wounds, Pushing Boundaries: African Americans in Civil War Medicine: This exhibition from the National Library of Medicine looks at the African American men and women who served as surgeons and nurses, providing medical care to soldiers and civilians, during the American Civil War. Through historical images and period documents, the exhibit brings a voice to those that have remained silent for nearly 150 years. The exhibit is open to the public, and runs from May 14 - June 23, 2012, in the Halle Library lobby during regular library hours. For further information, contact Elizabeth Bucciarelli at ebucciare@emich.edu , or 487-0020, ex. 2129.

As soon as we have the right humidity and temperature conditions in the ARC, cleanup will begin. May 22 is the earliest date that the 45-90 day cleanup process might begin. Contact Brian Steimel in Circulation (bsteimel@emich.edu) for assistance.
