Troubleshooting access to online resources

The EMU Library's databases and electronic subscriptions can be accessed from off campus. Occasionally, however, access problems may occur. These can be related to technical issues or maintenance downtime, issues with the status of the user's NetID, or incompatibility issues. Use the following troubleshooting suggestions to correct problems. If you can’t quickly solve the problem yourself, contact the EMU Library Information Desk.

Problems and possible solutions:

  1. EMU NetID password problem (The Remote Access to Library Online Resources page won't accept password)
  2. Browser, network or ISP problem
  3. E-book problems (Problems specific to library e-books)
  4. Other problems (The database is asking for a password other than the EMU NetID, etc.)

Alternate solutions:

  1. VPN for faculty and staff (provides authorized access from off campus to the campus network and library resources)
  2. Michigan Electronic Library (MeL) databases (access to a limited set of databases for all Michigan residents; login with your driver's license or state ID)
