The Spanish Minor, along with skills acquired through a major course of study, prepares you to teach Spanish language and culture at either the elementary or secondary level. This minor is for those who enjoy working with children and adolescents, love Spanish-speaking cultures, and are excited about developing proficiency in Spanish.

What You Will Learn

You will learn Spanish composition, conversation, culture, civilizations along with age appropriate theories and methods of modern language teaching. You will have many opportunities to practice skills when teaching small-group lessons to peers, working individually with learners with special needs, and leading students during student teaching.

Opportunities

Successful completion of this minor, in the context of other program requirements, qualifies you for recommendation for endorsement in Spanish (FF) in the state of Michigan. Certified teachers with the Elementary Spanish endorsement (FF) are able to teach Spanish in grades K-12.
