About Us

EMU’s Academic Programs Abroad offers a variety of programs including direct exchanges, intensive language and programs offered over winter and summer break. Most programs are open to students from any university. We also provide advising on study abroad programs at other universities, work or volunteer opportunities abroad and budget travel.


Benita Goldman | Program Associate, Instructor, Advisor |

Benita directs and teaches programs abroad, as well as coordinates faculty-led programs. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia and taught abroad since ‘92. She previously served as a faculty member in the Art Department at Missouri Southern in Joplin. She holds an M.F.A. in painting from EMU and studied drawing and color theory at Yale University. She has been the recipient of two Michigan Arts Council Grants, an Atlantic Center for the Arts Fellowship, a number of art awards and a scholarship from Yale University.

Eleonora Bagatelia Katsambouris | Manager, Study Abroad |

Eleonora advises students on study abroad programs and manages the partner and exchange programs, as well as intensive language programs. She has lived in Russia and Ireland, and has done research in and traveled to many places around the world. Eleonora holds an MSW degree from the University of Michigan, as well as graduate and undergraduate degrees from Eastern Michigan University. She has substantial experience in academic and international student advising and is passionate about helping EMU students find their way to the right study abroad experience.
