EMU Outdoor Digital Board Requests

Eastern Michigan University’s Division of Communications oversees the placement of approved campus messages on outdoor digital advertising boards on main campus. Approved messages must promote EMU.

There are two on-campus digital boards available for advertising. These boards are located outside of the parking structure near the Student Center and outside of Phelps Residence Hall.

  • Criteria Expand dropdown
    •  Messages must promote an official EMU program, activity, event, or partnership and be officially sponsored by an EMU unit (division, college, school, department, or office) or a student organization in compliance with Campus Life and registered on the EagleSync portal (eaglesync.emich.edu).
    • EMU faculty, staff or students may make a request as a representative of the sponsoring unit. An EMU email address must be used for correspondence about the request.
    • The message must be of broad, public interest and open to the general public.
    • Other types of message requests may be accepted on a case-by-case basis, depending on available space, level of importance, scope, timing, and size of audience.
    • Messages will be subject to review and approval by the Division of Communications, which reserves the right to remove messages at any time and to decline requests based on content, image, language, scope, priority or discretion.
  • Guidelines Expand dropdown
    • Requests must be submitted three weeks prior to an event (or requested run date) in order to allow for message preparation and scheduling.
    • Complete the online form to submit a request for consideration.
    • Keep the number of words to a minimum, typically no more than seven. Before submitting, carefully proofread for grammar, spelling, and capitalization.
    • Artwork and photos may be submitted for potential use.
    • Avoid email addresses and phone numbers. They are difficult to read and remember.
  • Schedule Expand dropdown
    • The Division of Communications will prioritize the large number of requests as well as multiple requests for the same dates in order to maximize the reach and impact of messages.
    • Generally, messages will begin running 2-5 days before an event. In some cases, messages that have a wide audience appeal or are focused on student recruitment may run for longer periods of time.
