Developing a Gen AI Policy for Your Classes

Lots of instructors are struggling with how to handle Gen AI policy for their fall term classes.  Should we forbid it? (Hint: we don’t advise that).  Should we encourage student use?  On all assignments?  Just some of them?

In this session, we heard from faculty experienced in this area about how they set their course policies regarding Generative AI use in their classes.  We learned how they have thought through these issues, the language they use in their syllabus, and how they explain it to their classes.  We will leave plenty of time for discussion, and for workshopping different approaches for your classes.
