2024 Showcase

The Bruce K. Nelson Faculty Development Center, the Office of Research Development and Administration (ORDA), and the Graduate School hosted the 2024 Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity Showcase to celebrate scholarship and creative activities recently completed, or currently being pursued, by EMU faculty.

We invited all faculty - tenured, tenure-track, and emeritus - and all lecturers to feature posters, journal articles, books, artwork, and videos or compact discs of performing art, etc., that highlight their own, or collaborated on, scholarly activities, regardless of if/when it was disseminated. We also invited faculty to come talk about the work they are doing (we would encourage some physical display, however, if only to start conversations.) Space was provided to display poster presentations and artwork, as well as tables to display books, CDs, and DVDs. Works were organized with other like-minded research to encourage collaboration and offer opportunities for new connections, as well.

This year, we are were pleased to host student attendees interested in learning more about faculty work. Additionally, the Undergraduate Symposium will provide a new platform for students who want to engage with faculty to identify potential research and creative project opportunities. Faculty attendees also received information about promoting available research opportunities to students.

This event took place on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, from 3 PM to 5 PM, in the Student Center Ballroom.

The Undergraduate Symposium and the EMU Provost's Office are pleased to announce a new tool coming to EMU in the 2024-25 academic year - ForagerOne. The ForagerOne software provides a scalable digital infrastructure that connects students, faculty researchers, and staff across EMU based on shared and complementary interests. Bringing ForagerOne to EMU is a purposeful step towards creating a collaborative central hub that allows students to search a comprehensive database of faculty researchers’ work that aligns with their interests, helping them discover faculty they might not have found or considered otherwise. The platform can also facilitate interdisciplinary work and collaboration among faculty. If you would like to participate in this initial rollout or if you'd like to learn more about the ForagerOne program, contact Amy Bearinger ([email protected]), Event Coordinator for the Undergraduate Symposium.

If you have any questions regarding the submission process or the event, please contact either the Office of Research Development and Administration ([email protected]), or the Bruce K. Nelson Faculty Development Center ([email protected]).
