**********Update to Timely Warning 21-02, September 23, 2021**********

On September 23, 2021 at approximately 1 a.m., a shooting was reported in the area of Ann St. & N. Huron River Drive. A 21-year old man (non-student) was found nearby inside a black Dodge Durango and he was transported to a local hospital by EMS. The man was later pronounced dead from his injuries. Ypsilanti Police are now investigating the shooting as a homicide.

Timely Warning 21-02, September 23, 2021

Shooting, Ann St. & N. Huron River Drive, Ypsilanti, MI

Location: Ann St. & N. Huron River Drive, Ypsilanti, MI

The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 1 a.m., in the area of Ann St. & N. Huron River Drive. A black Dodge Durango was seen driving away from the scene before stopping in front of the University's Physical Plant main entrance. A non-student inside the vehicle was reported as injured and transported to the hospital. Report of a Shooting – City of Ypsilanti - Off-Campus

Location: 301 W. Cross St, Ypsilanti, MI 48197

The Ypsilanti Police Department (YPD) is investigating a shooting in the area of 301 W. Cross St, east of campus. The incident occurred on September 4, 2021 at approximately 3:25 a.m.

YPD, Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, and EMU officers responded to the area and learned that a male (non-student) had been shot in the right arm. Further details about the incident are not known at this time as the victim was not forthcoming with information about what occurred.

Timely Warning 21-01, Sunday August 29, 2021

Criminal Sexual Conduct, Eastern Michigan University Campus, Ypsilanti, MI

Location: Green Lot, Eastern Michigan University campus and a parking lot on Lowell Street, Ypsilanti

The Eastern Michigan University Police Department and the Ypsilanti Police Department are investigating two Criminal Sexual Conduct incidents involving the same survivor. The reported incidents occurred on 8/28/2021 and 8/29/2021 between the hours of 11:55 p.m. and 2:20 a.m. The EMU Police Department was contacted by the survivor who reported they had been assaulted by multiple individuals on and off campus.

*****UPDATE-6/9/2021 -The Ypsilanti Police Department arrested a suspect in connection to the robbery several hours later. The investigation and identification of the second suspect is ongoing. *****

Off-Campus Community Safety Advisory 21-06, Tuesday, June 8, 2021

Report of an Armed Robbery –  City of Ypsilanti - Off-Campus

Location: 301 W. Cross St (Got Burger), Ypsilanti, MI 48197

The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating a report of an armed robbery in the area of Got Burger, east of campus. The incident occurred on June 8, 2021 at approximately 1:09 am.

YPD, WCSO and EMU Officers responded to the area and learned that two black males pulled a handgun and robbed two patrons of the restaurant in the parking lot. The suspect fled in a dark red to brown four door sedan north on Adams St. Property reported to be stolen was a handgun. No injuries were reported. Suspect descriptions provided by victim was:

Suspect #1: Tall black male with a short Afro wearing a black hoodie.

Suspect #2: Shorter black male with a short Afro wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

Off-Campus Community Safety Advisory 21-05, Friday, May 7, 2021

Report of shots fired – Ypsilanti - Off-Campus

Location: Collegewood St. and Hillside Court, Ypsilanti, MI 48197

The Ypsilanti Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred today (May 7, 2021), at approximately 12:10 p.m. on Collegewood St. near Hillside Court, west of main campus.

The victim was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital by a third party with unknown injuries before police arrived.

The suspect vehicle is described as an older model, dark in color, Dodge Durango with tinted windows.

Off-Campus Community Safety Advisory 21-04, Tuesday, April 20, 2021 1:35am

Report of an Armed Robbery – City of Ypsilanti - Off-Campus

Location: 500 Block of West Cross Street, Ypsilanti, MI 48197

The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating a report of an armed robbery in the area of the 500 block of West Cross Street, south of campus. The incident occurred on April 20, 2021 at approximately 1:35 am.

YPD and EMU Officers responded to the area and learned that an unknown male entered a business and demanded money. The victims reported that the suspect implied he had a weapon, but no weapons were observed. The suspect fled on foot south on Perrin Street away from campus. No injuries were reported.

Off-Campus Community Safety Advisory 21-03, Saturday, April 10, 2021

Report of shots fired - Death Investigation– City of Ypsilanti - Off-Campus

Location: Leforge Rd. Ypsilanti, MI

The Ypsilanti Police Department is currently investigating a shots fired - death investigation which occurred today (April 10, 2021) at approximately 1:38 a.m. in an apartment complex in the area of Leforge Rd and Green Rd.

There is no suspect description at this time.

There is no known connection to anyone at Eastern Michigan University. The investigation remains underway.

Off-Campus Community Safety Advisory 21-02, Thursday, April 8, 2021

Report of shots fired – Superior Township - Off-Campus

Location: MacArthur Blvd, Superior Township, MI 48198

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a complaint of Felonious Assault which occurred today (April 8, 2021) at approximately 2:30 p.m. on MacArthur Blvd. The involved vehicles fled the area and drove through the City of Ypsilanti near campus. The EMU Police Department was contacted by a third-party concerning this incident. The individual witnessed a person on a moped shoot at another vehicle near Lowell St. and Jarvis St. The vehicles continued southbound away from campus and one of the vehicles was involved in a crash near Michigan Ave.

No injuries are reported at this time.

The possible suspect vehicle is a black and white moped.

Off-Campus Community Safety Advisory 21-01, Sunday January 17, 2021 1:40pm

Report of shots fired – Suspects in custody - City of Ypsilanti - Off-Campus

Location: 200 Block of Normal St. Ypsilanti, MI 48197

The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating an incident of shots being fired in the area of the 200 block of Normal St., south of campus. The incident occurred on 1/17/2021 at approximately 1:40 pm.

YPD and EMU Officers responded to the area and learned that two unknown persons had discharged a firearm striking a house. During the course of the investigation, two male suspects were identified and taken into custody. No EMU students were involved nor were there any reported injuries.
