Safety & Crime Prevention
The Community Relations Officer and Area Police Officers offer a wide range of safety and crime prevention programs each year. These programs cover a variety of topics including, ALICE-active assailant response for civilians, RAD- Rape Aggression Defense women’s self-defense, sexual assault and consent, dating and domestic violence, stalking, campus and personal safety, commuter/travel safety, drug and alcohol awareness and prevention, on-line safety and bicycle registration.
The EMU Police Department is hosting an ALICE Instructor Course. This certification is a two-day “train the trainer” class on active shooter response that will prepare attendees to go back to their community or own organization and teach the ALICE proactive strategies to others. This course is designed to teach proactive option-based strategies to increase survivability in a violent critical incident. The ALICE strategies empower individuals to participate in their own survival in the gap between when a violent situation begins and when law enforcement arrives. Learn more and register.
