International Virtual Global Learning Workshop

GLS

This international workshop a) introduced new strategies and tools for virtual global learning, and b) gave EMU faculty access to networks of international faculty they could collaborate with to integrate global exchanges and learning in their courses.

Using a hyflex format, we invited 20 EMU faculty (Global Learning Seminar alumni and other EMU faculty) for an in-person one day (morning and afternoon) workshop, as well as virtual faculty participants from international virtual global learning networks (10 participants).

Technology and networks for virtual global learning used to be the major constraints for development and broader reach of virtual global learning but both – technology and networks - have been greatly developed in the last few years, especially since the pandemic, and have allowed global learning to expand to virtual modes that can be both more inclusive of all types of students and more feasible for faculty to integrate into their courses.

This full day workshop was held on Friday, November 17 from 8:30-3:30 PM in 217 Halle. Faculty, full-time lecturers, and part-time lecturers who are teaching or on leave during Fall 2023 were invited to join this workshop. Participants who completed the workshop received $100 for the development of a module and identification of a plan for implementation of the module.
