Undergraduate Scholarships

The College of Business and the individual departments in the College have endowed scholarships that are available to students meeting specific criteria. Applications will be accepted beginning November 15, 2017. The deadline for scholarship applications for the 2018–2019 award year is Thursday, February 15, 2018 by 11:59 p.m.  The scholarship application can be found here.

 

Jim & Juanita Bradley Endowed Scholarship

  • COB major
  • African-American, Hispanic-American or Native-American heritage

Leland & Hilda Brown Endowed Scholarship

  • COB major

Amelia Chan COB Undergraduate Advising Endowed Scholarship

  • Undergraduate admitted to the College of Business with a business-intent or declared College of Business major
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Financial need

Gough-Rose Endowed Scholarship

  • COB major
  • U.S. citizen and Plymouth/Canton area resident
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

The James H. Hays '85 Scholarship in Business

  • $1,000 scholarship to currently enrolled full-time 
  • Must have worked an average of 16+ hours per week for the last 12 months and is still employed as evidenced by a letter from employer.
  • Sophomore or Junior standing with at least 24 cr hours earned at EMU in the last 12 months (recent transfers to EMU do not qualify).
  • 2.5 or higher GPA
  • No previous bachelor degree or higher degree -Independent filing status on income tax returns to be documented by award recipient's tax filing
  • Must be a Michigan resident.

Ralph Lorenz Endowed Scholarship

  • Junior or senior COB major
  • Must be holding a part-time job
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

  • Exhibits a strong work ethic and sense of self-responsibility by completing one semester of student food service work prior to receiving this award

  • Junior or senior, full-time, COB student
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Graduate of a Michigan high school

The Stephen M. and Dena J. Wirt Expendable Scholarship

  • Currently-enrolled, EMU student
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 from EMU, transfer college or high school.
  • Funds to pay for EMU tuition and fees only
  • Preferences to a parent and working student.

Gary M. Owen Scholarship**

  • Student from a disadvantaged family
  • Preference given to an overachiever

*Apply through the COB but the Office of Financial Aid makes the award.

**This scholarship is available to business majors through the Office of Financial Aid. Please complete the "University Scholarship Application" to be considered for the Owen Scholarship.

UHY Distinguished Accounting Leadership Scholarship ($1,000 per year)

This scholarship (applied to EMU tuition and fees) is awarded to a master's in accounting student or an undergraduate accounting major who is going to be enrolled in MSA/MSAIS/MST or 150 hour program who has exhibited a combination of outstanding academic performance and leadership skills.

  • Be an EMU undergraduate accounting major entering the EMU MSA/MSAIS/MST/150 hour program or currently in the MSA/MSAIS/MST or 150 hour program.
  • Have at least a 3.2 overall GPA
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Member or officer in the Accounting Club/BAP/NABA
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills which include:
      • Taking risks in classroom projects to deliver a unique work product
      • Effectively managed divergent personalities to achieve successful outcomes and to enhance the contributions of others
      • Demonstrated the ability to grasp new concepts quickly and applied them effectively in the classroom
      • Stay calm under pressure
  • Prefer: Student to be working while going to school and taking at least nine credit hours in Fall/Winter semester.
