Congratulations on your admission to Eastern Michigan University! This is an exciting time, and we want to make sure you have all the information you need to make your best decision. The information will below will help you as you navigate the enrollment process.

Admitted First Year Student Checklist

Please see the below checklists for your next steps and guide to enrollment at Eastern Michigan University. Make sure to reference the list under the semester you intend to enroll and begin courses. If you have any questions, you can contact our office here.

After being admitted, complete the following in your admitted student portal:

Once you have completed the above steps, you must then complete the following:

  • Activate your My.Emich student account and DUO Security

    • To activate your my.emich student account, you will need both your NetID and your EID. You can find these on the official admit packet that you received. If you do not have them, reach out to the Office of Admissions at 734.487.6453 or [email protected].
    • When you activate your account and set up your password, you will have access to your @emich.edu email account.
    • In the interest of keeping your private information private, EMU requires all students to participate in a 2-factor login system called DUO Security. After you activate your account, the first time you log in, you will be prompted to enroll in DUO. Please see the DUO Security page if you have any issues or questions.
    • If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact our IT Help Desk at 734.487.2120.
    • You must activate your my.emich account in order to register for SOAR.

  • File the FAFSA using EMU's school code

    • File your FAFSA using EMU’s code (002259)
    • If you have been notified by Financial Aid that you have been selected for verification, submit the requested documentation as soon as possible.

  • Apply for Housing

    If you plan to live on campus, make sure to apply for housing here. The housing application is open until June 15, 2025. A $150 non-refundable fee is required to start the application.   • Send us your official high school transcripts

    • Official final high school transcript can be received from your school after you graduate one of many ways:

    Electronically: via sites such as Parchment
    Via Email from a school official to [email protected]
    By Mail: PO Box 921, Ypsilanti, MI 48197

    • Remember to send official college transcripts for dual enrollment credit as well as AP or IB test scores
    • Note that financial aid cannot be disbursed until we receive this final transcript.
