Congratulations on your admission to Eastern Michigan University! This is an exciting time, and we want to make sure you have all the information you need to make your best decision. The information will below will help you as you navigate the enrollment process.

Admitted First Year Student Checklist

Reference this checklist to determine your next steps and to guide your enrollment at Eastern Michigan University.

Students enrolling for the Summer 2022 (May 2022) or Fall 2022 semester (August 2022) please follow the steps below.

  • Activate your my.emich student account and DUO Security

    • To activate your my.emich student account, you will need both your NetID and your EID. You can find these on the official admit packet that you received. If you do not have them, reach out to the Office of Admissions at 734.487.6453 or [email protected].
    • When you activate your account and set up your password, you will have access to your @emich.edu email account.
    • In the interest of keeping your private information private, EMU requires all students to participate in a 2-factor login system called DUO Security. After you activate your account, the first time you log in, you will be prompted to enroll in DUO. Please see this "Helpful Tips" sheet if you have any issues or questions.
    • If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact our IT Help Desk at 734.487.2120.
    • You must activate your NetID account in order to register for Orientation.

  • Visit campus or meet with an admissions advisor

    • We have many visit options available for students including daily tours offered Monday through Friday and select Saturdays, virtual visits, open houses, and more!

  • File the FAFSA using EMU's school code

    • File your FAFSA using EMU’s code (002259)
    • The FAFSA is now available.
    • If you have been notified by Financial Aid that you have been selected for verification, submit the requested documentation as soon as possible.
  • Fill Out the EMU Enrollment Form!

    The EMU Enrollment Form is the official way to tell us that you intend on enrolling at EMU! The EMU Enrollment Form also verifies your information, registers you for a SOAR date, provides information for your online orientation module, and registers you for EMU Connect. 

    This form will be available in mid-January and is required for all first-year students to complete. 

    Students planning to start classes in the Summer of 2022: 

    You must schedule and attend an advising appointment before on April 22, 2022 to register for Summer classes. If you have any questions about rescheduling an appointment, please contact [email protected].

    SUBMIT EMU ENROLLMENT FORM

  • Complete your Online Orientation Module

    • You will receive details about you online orientation module when you submit your EMU Enrollment Form. 
    • You must complete your Online Orientation module before you attend you EMU Orientation date as it contains critical information to make your enrollment at EMU successful.
    • You will log in with you my.emich credentials (your NetID and the password you created).
  • Attend SOAR

    • When you complete your EMU Enrollment Form you will select an SOAR date.
    • SOAR (Student Orientation Advising & Registration) is where you will meet with an academic advisor to plan your course schedule for the Fall and get acquainted with student support services on campus. 
    • Attending SOAR is required for all first year students to enroll at Eastern Michigan University.

  • Apply for Housing

    • The housing application for first year students opens on April 4!

  • Send us your official high school transcripts

    • Official final high school transcript can be received from your school after you graduate one of many ways:

    Electronically: via sites such as Parchment or Naviance.
    Via Email to [email protected]
    By Mail: PO Box 921, Ypsilanti, MI 48197

    • Remember to send official college transcripts for dual enrollment credit as well as AP or IB test scores
    • Note that financial aid cannot be disbursed until we receive this final transcript.
  • Attend EMU Connect
