Course Reserves Information for Faculty

To request books be placed on reserve for your course, fill out the EMU Library Reserves Materials Request for Instructors Form. We will review your request and get the books on reserve as quickly as possible.

If we don't own the item:

  • We may be able to purchase it.
  • We welcome you to supply a personal copy of a textbook. This is a temporary loan to the library, and we will return it after the semester is over. If you are going to supply a personal copy, give it to the Library Services team member at the Desk, along with your name and the course number so that we can make sure to assign your copy to your class.

If the book is readily available (we have a personal copy or if the book is part of the collection and on the shelf), it will take up to three days from submitting your request to making the request available for reserves. If a book is checked out, then it can take up to three weeks. To avoid this, please get your list to us as soon as possible.

If you are teaching online instead of on campus, here are some alternatives to physical course reserves:

We also put assigned textbooks in a general department course. You can get a stable link to your courses' and departmental listings here.

If you have any questions regarding course reserves, please contact Cassie Eide at [email protected].
