Get Materials from Other Libraries

When items are not available from the EMU library, faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students can place requests for:

  • Books, audio, and video: request via MelCat
  • Articles and chapters, and books not available in MelCat: request via ILLiad

Mel logoMeLCat is a catalog for books, audio, and videos from many Michigan libraries that can be requested online and picked up at Halle library. Materials typically arrive within 1 week with a 3 week loan period.

Use this service to obtain:

  • Books checked out or missing from the EMU library
  • Video & Audio

MyMeLCat: login with name and E number to check the status of requests or to renew items borrowed from MeLCat.

Some MelCat libraries allow EMU patrons borrow materials in person (using an EMU ID). To see if a library participates, look for libraries with a "Yes" under "Visiting Patron" on this chart.

Interlibrary Loan

The Interlibrary Loan system, ILLiad, lets library users request:

  • Articles and photocopies, delivered via email
  • Books if not available in MeLCat
  • Theses & Dissertations

Visiting Other Libraries

Options for borrowing materials in-person at other libraries are limited due to the pandemic.
