Dr. Albaugh Awarded $500k NSF Grant
Dr. Brittany Albaugh, an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry at EMU, was awarded a $500,176 National Science Foundation grant for her research on UHRF2, a crucial protein with implicated in gene regulation and cancer development. Collaborating with Dr. Ray Trievel from the University of Michigan, Albaugh's project aims to understand how UHRF2 structurally and functionally interacts with histones and how its binding differs from UHRF1, potentially leading to the development of targeted drugs. The initiative will provide research training for undergraduate and graduate students from, enhance the undergraduate biochemistry curriculum, and support a summer research program for underserved high school students.
