Anderson Romero
Biography
Anderson Romero is Assistant Professor of Trumpet in the School of Music & Dance at Eastern Michigan University. Dr. Romero has performed throughout the United States, South America and Europe. He is Assistant Principal Trumpet of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and has also served as Adjunct Trumpet Faculty at Texas A&M University – Commerce. He was also the trumpet instructor for the NJSO Academy Orchestra and has given recitals and master classes at institutions in the U.S. and abroad.
Dr. Romero also served as acting utility trumpet with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for their 2017–18 season and was the principal trumpet with the Tatuí Symphony Orchestra in Brazil until he moved to the United States in 2009. He has also performed with The Atlanta Opera, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, Meridian Symphony Orchestra, Theatro Sao Pedro Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), University of Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), and Ensemble Opera Nova Zürich (Switzerland).
As a chamber musician, Dr. Romero has performed with the Bulldog Brass Quintet, Southern Arts Brass Quintet, and University of Sao Paulo Brass Quintet which provided him with the opportunity to tour Italy and Switzerland in 2007.
As a soloist, Dr. Romero has had the opportunity to perform with the Southwestern Adventist University Chamber Orchestra, Cal Poly Pomona Wind Ensemble, University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra, as well as The University of Southern Mississippi Wind Ensemble.
Dr. Romero can be heard on the album Everything Lasts Forever with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, which features works by Michael Kurth, conducted by maestro Robert Spano. He was also featured in a video recording released in July 2021 with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra performing the Concerto in C minor for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra, Op. 35 by Dmitri Shostakovich, with Xian Zhang (conductor) and Daniil Trifonov (piano).
Dr. Romero holds degrees from the University of Georgia (DMA), the University of Southern Mississippi (MM), and the University of Sao Paulo (BM). His principal teachers include Philip Smith, Michael Tiscione, David Bilger, Jason Bergman, Daniel Kelly, and Sergio Cascapera.
Anderson Romero is an endorsing artist for Bach trumpets.
