Symphony Orchestra

The EMU Symphony Orchestra (EMUSO) is an auditioned ensemble of approximately 60+ string, woodwind, brass and percussion music majors, minors and non-music majors, which performs a wide variety of repertoire.  EMUSO is committed to performing works of living composers and championing works that need more visibility.  

The EMUSO performs on average, six concerts per year, including the popular Halloween Concert in October, a fully-staged ballet in December, the EMU Orchestra Festival in the Winter semester as well as collaborating regularly with the Choral and Opera Workshop departments.  Symphony Orchestra is offered during both the fall and winter semesters and rehearses from 1-2:50pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  If you are interested in learning more about the EMUSO, visiting EMU or auditioning for the ensemble, please contact us.
