Below is a labeled display of your 7900 Series Cisco I.P. phone's interface followed by a corresponding description of each label.

  1. Voice Message Light Strip - A red LED light on the handset indicates a new voice message.
  2. Time and Date - The current time and date is displayed.
  3. Softkey Buttons - Each activates a softkey option (displayed on your LCD screen), such as, redialing a call, placing a new call, forwarding a call, activating the Do Not Disturb feature. The softkeys available are specific to the situation.
  4. Unit Phone Number - The number assigned to the phone is displayed.
  5. Phone Line Buttons - Each corresponds with a phone line, Speed Dial, and call feature. Pressing a button for a phone line displays the active calls for that line. If you have multiple lines, you may have an All Calls button that displays a consolidated list of all calls from all lines (oldest at the top). It is recommended that you keep your phone in the All Calls view. A Phone Line button is lit green when active.
  6. Angle Adjustment knob - The foot-stand is adjustable from flat to 60 degrees to provide optimum display viewing and comfortable use of all buttons and keys.
  7. LCD Display Button - Indicates when the phone is in power-saving sleep/inactivity mode (button is lit), and can be used to awaken the display.
  8. Messages Button - Provides direct access to new and saved voice messages, setup message feature, configure greeting and setup personal options.
  9. Directories Button - Ready access to missed, received or placed calls. Incoming calls are identified and categorized on the display, allowing users to quickly and effectively return calls using direct dial-back capability. Also provides access to the Personal Directory or Corporate Directory (EMU Directory).
  10. Settings Button - Allows user to adjust display brightness, select background images (if available), and select ringer sounds through the User Preference menu.
  11. Services Button - Provides access to RSS Feeds and Weather Forecast.
  12. Volume Control Button - Controls the handset, headset, and speakerphone volume (off-hook) and the ringer volume (on-hook).
  13. Speaker Button - Selects the speaker as the default audio path and initiates a new call, picks up an incoming call, or ends a call. The Speaker button is lit green when active.
  14. Mute Button - Mute button toggles microphone on/off. The Mute button is lit green when active.
  15. Headset Button - Selects the headset as the default audio path and initiates a new call, picks up an incoming call, or ends a call. A headset icon in the phone screen header line indicates that the headset is the default audio path. The audio path does not change until a new default audio path is selected (for example, by picking up the handset). The Headset button is lit green when active.
  16. Help (?) Button - Online Help gives users information about the phone keys, buttons, and features.
  17. Navigation Pad and Select Button - The Navigation Pad (up, down, left, right) provides a means to scroll through menus and highlight items displayed on the LCD screen. After scrolling to an item, press the Select button to open a menu, play a ringer sound, or access other features as described on the screen.
